Which brings me to the point of this post. Keeping the exercise fun. Lately it's been a struggle to get the motivation to go out and do the work. I usualy like to walk with someone else, it helps pass the time and it also sometimes brings in a competitive element (it's a Male thing i've been told). I recently lost one of my favourite walking partners (yeah, boo hoo, over it now) and my iPod has been relegated to car duties so I've been devising ways to keep the motivation level high.
Which brings me to yesterday. The Annual Pink Walk. A 5km walk with around 250 other people all fundraising for the Breast Cancer Foundation. A friend and I devised a plan of kitting ourselves out in Pink and joining the masses, so come 10am yesterday we found ourselves dressed in some pretty silly wigs lining up wit
h everyone else to complete the walk. I wasn't confident due to the fact I'd left my running shoes over 200km away at a friends house and the fact I had to constantly keep pulling hair from my mouth the breathe properly (it's been years since I had hair that long!), but it was all in the name of fun so I just rolled with it. The first lap was a nice leasurely stroll just hanging out with aforementioned friend, but then I decided to use this as a serious training walk so I spent the rest of the time doing my thing (so to speak) and eventually finished within the first 10 or so people. Have no idea of the final time, somewhere around the 35 - 40 minute mark I think, but that wasn't what it was all about. Over $2500 was raised on the day, and for me - it was fun! Roll on the next one...Until next time - see ya round, like a rissole!
